Susan B. Bastress
Susan B. Bastress is an attorney who founded the Virgin Islands Mediation Service where she mediated over 150 disputes involving commercial transactions, construction claims and personal injury with a 98% success rate. Susan has conducted mediations and arbitrations in Maryland and Washington, D.C. during her service on the panels of the American Arbitration Association and JAMS.
During her tenure as a Law Partner with Squire Patton Boggs, Susan represented foreign governments, private and public companies, developers and contractors, municipalities and non-profit organizations involving commercial, real estate, and litigation matters. She established and managed the firm’s office in Doha, Qatar in 2003 where she practiced international law.
Susan obtained her BS degree from Duke University and her JD from George Washington University. She is admitted to the Bars of Washington, D.C., Maryland, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, she was the first foreign attorney to be admitted to practice law in Qatar.
